Ian Alan Paul (b. 1984) is a transdisciplinary artist and theorist whose practice examines the conjuncture of aesthetics and politics in global contexts. His work is formally diverse, often involving writing, photography, video, and experimental media, and is informed by critical theory as well as contemporary communist and anarchist thought. Over his life, Ian has lived and worked in the United States, Mexico, Spain, Egypt, and Palestine. He received a PhD in Film and Digital Media Studies from UC Santa Cruz in 2016 as well as a hybrid MFA/MA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2011. Ian currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and is an Assistant Professor of Emerging Media at Stony Brook University.
